Activities

PBHQ ships with paintball, airsoft, and laser tag. You can add unlimited activities of your own — Gellyball, Nerf wars, axe throwing, whatever you run — and they behave exactly like the built-in ones.

Who can do this: Owners (for the built-in toggles and day pickers, which live in Settings); Owners and Managers (for custom activities).

Turning the built-in activities on and off#

Where: Sidebar → Business → Settings → "Booking Options"

Toggle What it does
"Laser Tag bookings" "Show a Laser Tag option on your public booking page so customers can book 10-minute laser tag games. Turn this off if your field doesn't offer laser tag."
"Airsoft bookings" "Show a airsoft option on your public booking page so customers can book airsoft games. Turn this off if your field doesn't offer airsoft."
"Your own activities" Not a toggle — a "Manage" button that takes you to your custom activities.

Each toggle's button reads "Enable" or "Disable" depending on its current state.

Paintball is always on and has no toggle.

Adding your own activity#

Where: Sidebar → Catalog & Pricing → Activities → "Add Activity"

A custom activity gets its own card on your booking page, its own gear tiers, its own party packages, its own add-ons, its own play areas, its own day restrictions, and its own filter on your dashboard. It's a first-class activity, not a label.

"Activity Details"#

Field What it does
"Activity Name" e.g., "Gellyball", "Nerf Wars", "Axe Throwing". This is the heading on your booking page.
"Tagline (optional)" Short line under the heading on the booking card, e.g. "Low-impact, ages 6+".
"Badge (optional)" Small pill on the card, e.g. "Open Play".
"Accent Colour" "Used for this activity's badges across the dashboard and booking page." Teal, Blue, Green, Purple, Violet, Red, Amber, or Lime.
"Sort Order" "Lower numbers appear first on the booking page."
"Active" The on/off switch for this activity. Untick it and the activity disappears from your booking page.

"How It Books"#

"Booking Mode""A timed session books one block of time, like paintball. Per game books a number of short rounds, like laser tag."

Mode Extra settings
Timed session "Session Length (hours)""How long one booked session runs."
Per game "Minutes Per Game""Length of a single round." and "Max Games Per Booking""The most rounds a customer can book at once."

Validation: "Session length must be between 0 and 24 hours.", "Game length must be between 5 and 240 minutes.", "Maximum games must be at least 1."

"Booking Card Photo"#

"Photo (optional)""Shown on this activity's session card. Party packages use their own image."

After you create an activity#

A new activity has no gear, so nobody can book it yet. Next steps:

  1. Add at least one gear tier tagged to the new activity (Gear tiers).
  2. Optionally add party packages, add-ons, and play areas for it.
  3. Check its days under "Activity Availability" and "Walk-On Availability" (below).

The activity's URL name is permanent#

Each custom activity gets a short name used in its booking link — shown on the list page as "· /book/{your-field}/ as {slug}".

That name is generated from the activity name when you create it, and cannot be changed afterwards. The edit form says so: "An activity's URL name cannot be changed after it is created."

Renaming the activity is completely fine — the display name changes everywhere, and the link keeps working under its original short name. That's the point: renaming never breaks a link you've shared.

Some names are reserved (paintball, airsoft, laser_tag, event, party, walkon, and a few others). If yours collides you'll see: "{slug}" is a reserved activity name. Pick a different name. — just pick a different name.

"Activity Availability" — which days each activity runs#

Where: Sidebar → Business → Settings → "Activity Availability"

"Choose which days of the week each activity is offered. Leave all unselected to offer it on every open day. (Operating hours still apply.)"

You get a day grid per activity: "Paintball" always, "Airsoft" and "Laser Tag" when enabled, and one per custom activity.

Days your field is closed render greyed with the word "Closed" and can't be picked. Trying to save one anyway gives: "Your field is closed on: {Days}. Remove those days or update your operating hours."

Use this for "airsoft is Sundays only".

"Walk-On Availability" — which days walk-ons run#

Where: Sidebar → Business → Settings → "Walk-On Availability"

"Choose which days walk-on sessions can be booked. Uncheck every day to disable walk-ons for that activity. Party bookings are not affected."

Grids: "Paintball Walk-Ons", "Airsoft Walk-Ons", "Laser Tag Sessions", plus one per custom activity.

Parties are unaffected by this setting — restrict those on the package itself with "Allowed Days of Week".

Staff can still book walk-ons for a switched-off activity using Custom reservation.

Deactivating vs. deleting an activity#

Deactivating (untick "Active") is the supported off switch. The activity disappears from your booking page; all its gear, packages, and history stay put, ready to switch back on next season.

Deleting is refused as soon as anything uses it:

Cannot delete "{name}" — it is still used by: {gear tiers, party types, …}. Deactivate it instead to hide it from your booking page.
