Kiosk mode

Put a tablet or laptop on your front desk and let players check themselves in.

Setting the PIN: Owners only. Launching it: anyone on your team.

What the kiosk does#

A locked-down, full-screen check-in screen. A player walks up, types their name, and:

  • If they're booked and signed — they tap "Check In" and they're done.
  • If they're booked but unsigned — they sign their waiver right there, then check in.
  • If they're joining a party — they pick the party and add themselves to the roster.
  • If they're a walk-up with no reservation — they fill in a short form and sign a waiver, then come to you for gear and payment.

It never shows anyone's email or phone number, and it never displays money.

Setting it up#

1. Set a PIN#

Sidebar → Business → Settings → "Kiosk Mode"

"Lock the kiosk URL behind a PIN and share it with your front desk for game-day self check-in."

  1. Enter "Set PIN (4–6 digits)" and "Confirm PIN".
  2. Click "Save PIN". The status pill flips from "PIN not set" to "PIN set".

The card also shows your kiosk URL with a "Copy URL" button.

To change it later, use "New PIN (4–6 digits)" and "Update PIN". To switch the kiosk off entirely, click "Clear PIN" and confirm — "Clear the kiosk PIN? The kiosk will be disabled."

2. Add your logo (optional)#

Settings → "Kiosk Logo""Shown above the 'Check In' heading on your kiosk. A transparent PNG works best."

3. Launch it#

Two ways:

  • From the sidebar — click "Launch Kiosk" under Operations. It opens in a new tab with the PIN already handled, so a staff laptop boots straight into kiosk mode. Greyed out until you set a PIN ("Set a kiosk PIN in Settings to enable.").
  • From the URL — open the kiosk URL on the tablet and enter the PIN once. The device stays unlocked for 30 days.

What players see#

Landing — your logo, a large "Check In" heading, "Type your name below to begin.", and one big search box: "Start typing your name…"

Search — results appear as they type. It looks at today's bookings only, and matches player names, the name on the booking, and event team names. Each result shows context — the party name and time, or their team and event.

Their name — a big screen with their name, a Waiver row reading "✓ Signed" or "Not signed", and a "Check In" button. If unsigned, the button is disabled with "Waiver required" and a "Sign Waiver" button appears.

Signing — the same waiver form as the emailed link: your safety video, your waiver text, minor and guardian handling, acknowledgments, signature. Submitting brings them back to their name screen — it does not check them in. They still tap "Check In".

Confirmation"You're checked in, {name}!", then "Sign in another player" (which shows the rest of their booking) or "Done". It returns to the landing screen after five seconds.

"Don't see your name?"#

Three options, for the people who aren't in the search results:

Option What happens
"I'm with a party booked here today" They pick from today's parties (full ones show "FULL — please see staff."), add their name and optional email, and join the roster.
"I'm walking in today (no reservation)" "Walk-in waiver" — name, optional email and phone, date of birth, then straight to the waiver. Footer: "After signing, see staff at the front desk to choose gear and pay."
"I'm here for a tournament or event" Not a button — it reads "Please see staff". Event registrations are handled by you.

About walk-in waivers#

A walk-in creates a real booking for today with one player, no gear, and a $0 total, marked as a kiosk walk-in so you can spot it on your dashboard.

They still owe you money and still need gear. The kiosk tells them to see staff. Your job at the desk is to find that booking, add their gear, and take payment. It's a signed waiver and a headcount, not a sale.

Exiting kiosk mode#

A small "Staff" link sits in the bottom-right of every kiosk screen. Tap it, and a "Staff exit" modal asks for the kiosk PIN. Enter it and you land back on the dashboard.

A wrong PIN just returns to the kiosk landing.

Other behavior worth knowing#

  • Idle screens return to the landing page after 90 seconds, so nobody's name is left on display.
  • Tapping your field name three times quickly requests full-screen — handy when setting up a tablet.
  • Wrong PIN entries are rate limited — five attempts per 10 minutes, then "Too many attempts — try again later."
  • Text selection is disabled so players can't fiddle with the page.

The waiver rule#

Running a good kiosk#

  1. Put it where people queue, not behind the counter.
  2. A sign helps — "Check in here" with an arrow.
  3. Keep a staff member nearby for the first hour of a busy day.
  4. Check the dashboard periodically. Walk-in waivers need gear and payment adding.
  5. Don't rely on it for events. Tournament and big-game players are told to see staff.
