Tournaments

An event where a captain registers a whole team at a per-team price, and teammates fill in their own details afterwards.

Who can do this: Owners and Managers. Where: Sidebar → Schedule → Events → "New Event""Tournament"

Read Events overview first — it covers the shared settings and the draft/publish rules.

"Tournament Settings"#

Field What it does
"Team Capacity" How many teams you'll accept. Registration closes when it's full.
"Team Size (players per team)" Players per team — 3 for speedball, 5, 7, 10.
"Alternates per Team" "Extra seats beyond team size. 0 = no alternates."

"Price per Team ($)" replaces the per-player price on the "Pricing" card. The captain pays this once for the whole team.

Validation: "Team capacity is required for Tournament events and must be ≥ 1." "Team size is required for Tournament events and must be ≥ 1." "Gear tier must be empty for Tournament events." — tournament teams bring their own gear.

How registration works#

  1. The captain registers. They pay the team price, enter their own details, and become the first player on the roster.
  2. PBHQ gives them two links. One to share with their teammates, one to manage the roster.
  3. Teammates self-register through the shared link, filling in their own names and emails and signing their own waivers.
  4. The captain can manage their roster until the event starts — adding people and removing anyone who hasn't signed yet.

A team seat count is team size + alternates. With a size of 5 and 2 alternates, seven people can join.

Managing teams#

The event detail page shows a grid of team cards. Each card gives you:

  • The team name and "Captain: {name}"
  • A seat bar showing "{filled}/{total}"
  • A "Copy link" control for the captain and teammate links — so you can re-send a link when a captain loses the email

Click a card to open the team's detail page, where you can add a player (name and email are both required — "Name and email are required.") or remove one.

Before you publish#

Everything money- and logistics-related locks once the first team registers: type, dates, times, play areas, team capacity, team size, alternates, and price. Get them right.

Think especially hard about:

  • Team size. Changing it later isn't possible. If you're not sure, alternates give you slack.
  • Team capacity vs. your fields. Eight teams on two fields is a long day. Count your matches before you count your teams.
  • Time window. Reserved play areas are blocked for the entire window, and multi-day tournaments block them for every day in the range.

On tournament day#

Every team is a booking. They appear on your bookings list — searchable by team name as well as by player name — and check in like any other group. Expand the roster and check the team in together with "Check In All".

The bookings list's "All Types" filter has an "Event — Tournament" option.
